When are policies being applied?

From Settings<Remote Management<Remote Control<Windows, I selected the pcAnywhere Plug-in for Windows - Install and Applied it to the following:

Start with all computers

 THEN exclude computers not in Computer list %COMPUTERNAME%

This should install the plug-in for the one PC, correct?  

I Saved the changes after ensuring that "Run once ASAP" was checked.

However, the device never got the plug-in (although the Symantec Management Agent, etc) were installed.  It is like the policy was never applied to the client.

I could manually install it from NSCap\bin\Win32\X86 through the command line, but I am just not sure when this policy is supposed to kick in.

Where can I find this information?

Is it possible to have multiple connections to one machine?

I need a solution

If I connect to a machine with pcAnywhere (12.5), and then another user tries connecting to the same machine, they get a message "Host is busy".

Is it possible to allow two users to connect to the same machine (or more)?

pcAnywhere Verbiage question

I need a solution

We have a custom made pcA 12.5.5 SP4 package I made.  Our business is looking for a way to customize the verbiage on some of the parts of the login system of it.

 

When you first connect and the end user is presented with the prompt that says:

"The remote user listed below is attempting to connect to your computer.  Will you alow them to log into this host?"

We'd like to change this to have some different verbiage specific to our company.

 

We'd also like something that an be launched when a connection is made.  For example, we currently open the chat window and paste some verbiage in there about how technical support is currently logged in and if you need assiastance to type into this box or call X number.

It would be great though if there was a way to automate this process, or maybe a different method for getting our information to open for the end user so all the communication we want is alwasy there (that the human factor out of the equation)

Host access behind cable modem and wireless router

I need a solution

Hello all,

If someone could direct me to a previous thread on this item I will look there. Two scenarious;

1st - Cable modem into a Netgear wireless router and into the host. The wireless router is passing out dynamic IP's to the clients, but I need to get through the cable modem/internet to reach that dynamic IP. When I am on the wireless network I can get through using the Dyn IP no problem, but once on the internet I cannot get through. Is there a simple answer to this problem? 

2nd - Same situation but using the internet to access through SureWest Wireless Router. The router is giving IP's out but I need to access through the router on the internet in order to get to these Dyn IP's.

Windows 7 Ctrl + Alt + Del not working

I need a solution

I have pcAnywhere version 12.1 and when I connect to my 64 bit Windows 7 PC I can't get past the lock screen.  It does nothing when I click the Send Ctrl + Alt + Del button.

Is there something I need to do other than buy a new version of pcAnywhere?

Win 7 PCA 12.5 using dialup not working

Has anyone gotten dial up to work with Windows 7 PCA 12.5.5 build 1206.

I use the Windows 7 box to dial up a remote WinXP box.  It answers but all I get is a black screen.

Any one?

Hi

 

 

I just bought a copy of your product Symantec PcAnywhere 12,5 and I’m having some difficulties with it. On your website it says:

 

“Features removed in pcAnywhere 12.5:
Support for all authentication types except pcAnywhere, NT, and AD for Windows/PcAnywhere and Apple Open Directory for Mac/pcAnywhere and Linux PAM for Linux”

 

My question to you is if there is anyway for me to insert/connect a certificate to this version of PCA

Multiple Connection profiles on a single machine with PCAnywhere

I need a solution

We are running Altiris 7.1 with PCanywhere Solution.  I am in the process of configuring access security rights for pca.  I would like to have the ability to provide both Full Control and View Only control to all of our pc's.  I have a group of support people that need full control.  I also have a group of application support that can assist our end users, but they only need view access.  

Since you can only apply one pca policy to a computer, is this even possible?

PC Anywhere no login box

I need a solution

After using PCAnywhere just fine for almost a year, now during connecting, it goes thru "waiting" then "connecting" then NOTHING! No login box

comes up so I cannot get into my business!  I work with my computer reseller (restaurant POS) and they used thier PCAnywhere to login just fine, so we know the problem is NOT on the host computer.  Help!

Also, as a new member here, just WHICH community am I supposed to select since PCAnywhere is not a choice!

I need a solution

I have updated my Symantec PcAnywhere 12.5 to 12.5.5 build 1206 SP4 and since update I can not remote to the sites.

It comes with PcAnywhere no connection "comminication error"

This is related to job # 03187071

Is there fix for it please?

I need a solution

I have a number of 1-user pcAnywhere 12.5 installations and would like to update to at least SP3.  LiveUpdate won't cooperate; claiming build 442 is the latest.  What do I need to do to get a later build?

PCAnywhere connecting over wireless

I need a solution

We have a lot of docked laptops in our environment where turning wireless off/on isn't possible.

We have ran a script on the workstations to correctly always prioritize ethernet over wireless, which works fine for clients.

The problem is when we try to remote into machines using PCanywhere in CMS, PCanywhere connects over wireless.  I can see the wireless address it's trying to connect over right after accepting the cert.

We have much better success if I have technicians manually type in the ethernet address versus the given machine name that comes up, but this can be tedious sometimes to get from the client.

Is there any fix for this, how does PCAnywhere choose the address it's connecting to?  When it just happened today, the IP address showing under computer name in the console was the ethernet address - not the wireless, so you'd think it'd pick that one?

An XP machine using pcAnywhere 12.5.5 - unable to close the open host

I have an xp machine using pcanywhere 12.5.5 and I am unable to close the open host.  The option to do that is grayed out.  Please advise.  I have used pcanywhere for some time and have never seen this grayed out before.

I need some help with PCAnywhere

I need a solution

I have been using PCAnywhere for years without much of a problem.  We just upgraded our office machines to Windows 7 and I am having a problem with "The Remote Control Module Has Stopped Working".  This happens more often when I connect to a Windows 7 Machine, but I doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason as to why it happens.  I mainly use it to transfer files that I need to work with from one location to our home office.  It appears to happen when I invoke the "File Transfer" option.  I can occasionally create a command queue, but I have other times that I'm not exactly sure what the filename is that I need and have to look at the drive of the host computer. 

The strange thing is, I have an older version of PCAnywhere on my laptop and it seems to be solid.  When I get to my desktop, it has a newer version, and that may be the cause of the problem?

Laptop is pcanywhere ver. 12.5.0 build 442

Desktop Build is pcanywhere version 12.5. 0 build 463

Anyone have any ideas?

By the way:

Desktop system has:

AMD x4 processor

8 gb ram

120 gb ssd

Laptop has:

Intel core i7-720

16 gb ram

120 gb ssd
