I need a solution
I am a remote user of PC Anywhere - since last Friday, after the electricity being out at the office of the host and then being restored, I have been unable to log onto the host because of "invalid user name or password". It is the same one we have been using for years. Any ideas?

Hi all,
I have a Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition SP2 machine running three Symantec products: Endpoint Protection client v 12.1.2015.2015, Backup Exec (2012) agent v 14.0 Rev. 1709.0, and PC Anywhere 11.0,1 Build 764. Although nothing appears to have changed, now PC Anywhere host is not allowing a company to connect to us that does so regularly.
I don't know what the error message is on their end, but when they try to connect our Win Server pops up the error s32evnt1.dll and symevent.sys do not match.
I've checked the Internet for solutions and all solutions I've found are two and a half years old or older. I know from experience what happens when I try to apply an old solution to a current problem!
I checked the versions on the hard drive and discovered the following.
C:\Program Files\Symantec\s32evnt1.dll is version 12.8.0.11
C:\Windows\system32\s32evnt1.dll is version 12.8.0.11
C:\Windows\system32\drivers\symevent.sys is version 12.9.3.1
One solution I saw suggests downloading sevinst and running it with certain switches. Another says don't do that because live update should fix it automatically.
Does anyone know the current solution? Thanks in advance for the help.

I'm finding that my workstations pcAnywhere service not automatically starting after reboot. I can't find anything on why its happening. When looking thur the event logs I see it

Hello,
i am using PcAnywhere 12.5 Build 8096 in my enterprise. i put the server in a Special VLAN, which is separated from my LAN with a firewall. I opened All the ports recommended (5631 and 5632), but when i tried to remotee control a PC in my LAN i have an error (commincatiosn errors, unable to Attach the specified device). i have read all the posts about it, including:
- to check the service Pc Anywhere (https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/app...)
- check Firewall rules (http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?pag...)
But all i have tried, is not working properly, i am beginning to try that this product is to complicated to use than others vendors.
Perhaps i will not take a licence next year
if somebody has this issue in his network, i am hearing.

PCAnywhere 12.5.5 Build 1206 screen updates
I need a solution
I'm having problems with PCAnywhere 12.5.5 Build 1206 on windows 7 using dialup modem connection. After connecting to a host and preforming several actions the host seems to send every change that has occured on the screen in the order that it occured regardless of how long it take. within a minute or 2 of connecting it can take several minutes(5+) for the host and client to catch up. very frustrating.. is there anyway to force the host to just send whats on screen, if i open a dialog box and then click the window close button why do i need to wait for the the host to send the entire dialog box to the client even thou the dialog box has been closed on the host? this gets really slow when a application with a list of data is open and you click the scroll bar down button several times and wait while the client updates the image for every click! I have attempted to turn off the mirror driver but that doesn't seem to help. the Cntrl + Alt + R helps but i shouldn't have to press that every time a try to change whats on the screen.
Any help would be appreciated

Remote control of unmanaged devices with VNC
I need a solution
Is it possible to remote control unmanaged devices? We have Wyse terminals that we can enable VNC on, however when I try to remote control using the right click -> remote management route (the device has been scanned using SNMP/agentless discovery), I get an error that says 'Machine is not managed'.
Is it possible to get the Altiris console to ignore this limitation and just connect to the device using its VNC client?
Am running Altiris/Management Platform 7.1 SP2 MP1.1. pcAnywhere version is 12.6.7

Windows 8 & PCAnywhere 12.5
I need a solution
PCAnwhere 12.5 has stopped working on my Windows 8 system, initally I upgraded PCAnywhere to 12.5 then upgraded my system to WIN7, late last year I upgraded to Windows 8, PCAnywhere was working at that time, there have been Win8 software upgrades and I changed my AntiVirus software from AVG to AD-Aware.

Cannot make connection FROM XP 11.5 TO Win7 12.5
I need a solution
Upgrading a number of machines in my stores from XP Pro with PCA 11.5.0 build 121 to Win 7 Pro (32 bit) with PCA 12.5.0 build 442.
I CAN connect FROM the 12.5 into the hosts running 11.5.
I CANNOT connect FROM an 11.5 remote INTO the 12.5 host.
I have checked the CALLERS and they appear to be correct.
I have checked the PORTS and they are set correctly.
I have checked the PORT FORWARDING in my router and it is pointing to the correct IP.
This is a brand new Win 7 box. I'm wondering if there is something blocking the incoming signal?
I see compatibility issues between 12.5.5 and older versions, but as this is 12.5.0, that shouldn't be the case.
Any suggestion would be helpful.

Could not create session recording file.

Hello,
While trying to create on the pcanywhere host server the automatic session recording, I get the error “Could not create session recording file”. The workstation is windows 2003 pc with pc anywhere 10.0, build 354.
The destination folder is a network path on a Windows 2003 server. I have checked that it is possible to create/delete/modify files on the destination network folder and it works correctly with the windows explorer. The server is a domain server.
I have also tried to make the destination folder on a Windows 7 pc with a workgroup, but I have the same result.
Here is my setup. I take the same network path and credentials and go to pcanywhere. First I check the Record host session for later playback, and after that I type the network path of the folder where I want to save the recording. After that I click the advanced button and enter the user name, password and domain.
When I try to connect once more to pcanywhere remote host, it shows an error “Could not create session recording file”.
I would like to know how can I debug this error and check what could be wrong?
