Installed v7.0SP5 I applied the update and it completely took down PCA in the console and otherwise. SIM improperly identifies this update as being capable of being applied to v7.0 SMPs. I had to remove the new solution and revert back to 12.5 SP2 in order to restore services.
pcAnywhere
Caller pc cannot see mouse-click results on Host pc
We have installed 'Symantec pcAnywhere 11.0.0' on two Windows 7 Service Pack 1 workstations. Both workstations are on the same local network.
Here is the problem we are having. After we initiate a connection between the two workstations the 'Caller' can see everything on the 'Host' just fine (icons, etc.). The problem is that, when the Caller selects different icons or clicks on the Desktop, the Caller cannot see 'any' results (from the mouse-clicks) on the Caller screen. The Host computer, however, 'does see' results (from the mouse-clicks) being performed by the caller. For example, if the Caller right clicks on an empty space on the Desktop, the Caller cannot see any result, but the Host can see the drop down box appear.
At times, the cursor on the Caller workstation turns into a small-fuzzy-circle, too (but not always. Sometimes it's a pointer cursor.
We've already granted 'Full Control' to the Caller in SETTINGS. That didn't help. Thanks.
PC anywhere 12.5 only see a black screen
Hi there, I have searched through the forums, but can't seem to get a resolution for this. I know its posted else where, but I can't seem to get a fix.
When we connect and I do connect different hosts sometimes it just shows a black screen. you can transfer files ok, but can't see anything other than a black screen.
these are all servers we are connecting to, so rebooting isn't really an option.

PcAnywhere 12.6.8096 hide tray icon cannot work
We recently ran into a mess with the newest pcAnywhere plugin version. PcAnywhere tray icon appeared on our client pc. I am doing some testing and noticed that changing the option 'Hide host tray icon' has no effect and the tray icon is not removed. Tried a reboot, resaving the policy, removing and adding the setting, restarting the pcAnywhere service, etc. etc., still appear that tray icon.

PCanywhere 12.5.5, Recovering from a backup ?
I had PCanywhere 12.5.5 installed into my MAIN computer which I use to support dozens of clients, and had a hard drive failure. I reinstalled PCanywhere 12.5.5 back on the computer, to restore entriest to my registry, and the new installation doesn't recognize any of my old remote connections.
I restored the two folders (shown below), from Norton Ghost 15, but that by itself is not sufficient. Where is the encryption key stored, that I can recover it ?
I am trying to recover my dozens of connections without having to rebuild each one from scratch, is there any way to do this ?
My installation was divided into 2 parts to minimize issues with my limited SSD space:
SSD: Drive C: \Program Data\Symantec\PCanywhere\
Failed Hard Drive D: \Program Files (x86)\Symantec\pcAnywhere\
Sincerely,
John

Host service keeps stopping
I have pcAnywhere 12.5 SP3 setup on a new Win 7 Ultimate machine. I configured the host to startup with Windows. This computer ultimately will have no internet access and is not on a network, so we will be using a dial-up connection. The modem is installed and the modem host is setup and it all works. The problem is, the pcA host service just stops randomly. I can restart it, but then it randomly stops again anywhere from a couple of minutes to several hours. I've rebooted and it does the same thing. The Event Viewer only says "The Symantec pcAnywhere Host Service service entered the stopped state" with event ID 7036. I can connect remotely when the service is running, so it's all setup properly, but why does the service randomly stop?
failed of install pcanywhere remotely
Hello

Recently i have tried to install pcanywhere remotely but after running the command i did't find the folder of pcanywhere in system.
I have not made any mistake to run the command but don't the reason behind that.
I have tried to access the system remotely and also tried to install other application but it getting installed.
So give me some help to sort out because i don't know more about pcanywhere and smp.
PCa Quick connect - Thin Host
One of the servicdesk guys here informs me that PCanywhere now doesn't have the option to deploy a Thinhost when you open up the quickconnect icon. We recently upgraded CMS to latest version so is this something that has been removed.
Are we able to push out thin host to a machine that doesn't have PCanywhere (or an older version PCa version) on it so we can control it ? (Our agent upgrades have only been about 80% successful )
?

Error - A host is already running or in use
Unable to instal pcAnywhere
Hi,
I'm unable to install pcAnywhere on a Windows 7 machine. You will find the error in attachment.
Translation :The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: <Directory>. The installation cannot continue. Log on as administrator or contact your system administrator.
I tried to launch the installation in admin mode, I even try to instal FROM the administrator session, but no luck.
Whats' more, the directory specified in the error message seems to not exist at all.
Any help would be much appriciated ! Thanks
